UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and interim champion Frank Mir differ in whether a fighter should have respect for an opponent.

Mir, who at times is criticized for overconfidence, said Thursday during the final UFC 101 press conference that he always trains with a healthy respect for his opponent.

"When you lack respect for an opponent, when you take them maybe too casually," Mir said. "I've had errors in my career through overconfidence, through thinking I had nothing to worry about, or you make a mistake and you get caught, especially in a sport like ours where one mistake and you tap, the fight's over with."

There is a point of too much respect as displayed by Georges St. Pierre in his first encounter with Matt Hughes. St. Pierre said at the time he was just "happy to be in the Octagon with him" and the result was a first career loss. St. Pierre won the next two fights and while he continued to hold respect for Hughes, he saw Hughes as an opponent rather than someone he idolized.

Lesnar would take it further. The former WWE superstar flat-out said there is no respect for anyone stepping inside the Octagon against him.

"I don't have any respect for my opponents," Lesnar said. "I guess as soon you respect somebody in my opinion, you're that much close to getting beat. That's just my philosophy that I've trained by for many years."

Lesnar's mental approach to not respect his opponent dates back to his days as an amateur wrestling. A two-time NCAA All-American and the 2000 NCAA Heavyweight Champion, Lesnar finished his collegiate career with a record of 106-5. Maybe his record would be even closer to perfection had he not respected his opponent.

"In the past when I was approaching a tough match or something and I did respect the kid or had some respect for my opponent, I didn't wrestle the way I wanted to and I may have gotten beaten," Lesnar said. "So I discovered very early that I can't have any (respect)."

The UFC is now selling its pay-per-view events online for the first time, and as part of Saturday's UFC 100 event, anyone who makes a purchase on UFC.com will also receive access to the otherwise-un-aired six-fight preliminary card.

UFC 100 takes place this Saturday, July 11, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

To gain access to the preliminary fights, purchases ($44.95 per event) must be made by 10 PM ET (7 PM PT) this Friday, July 10.

UFC 100 is one of the deepest cards in UFC history with three main-event-worthy bouts, including UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar vs. interim title-holder Frank Mir, UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre vs. top contender Thiago Alves, and Michael Bisping vs. fellow coach on "The Ultimate Fighter 9" Dan Henderson.

Prior to UFC 100, Yahoo! Sports was the sole provider of UFC pay-per-view events online.

The UFC didn't clarify whether buyers who qualify for the special will get live access to the preliminary card or whether they'll be able to watch the events after the live main-card portion of the card.

The UFC 100 preliminary card features Mark Coleman vs. Stephan Bonnar, Mac Danzig vs. Jim Miller, Jon Jones vs. Jake O'Brien and other matchups.

One longtime complaint about the UFC's hefty PPV price tags (both online and through traditional cable platforms) is that preliminary-card fights aren't part of the purchase. But for at least one night, it seems, fans will get what they want.

Spike TV will join in the celebrations surrounding July's historic UFC 100 event.

The UFC's cable broadcast partner will debut a five-part series entitled "UFC's Ultimate 100: Greatest Fights" prior to UFC 100, which takes place July 11 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Fans can begin voting on the top 100 UFC fights of all time on May 1 at Ultimate100.spike.com, and highlights from the chosen bouts will air on the series, which debuts July 5.

That first episode airs at 9 PM ET/PT on Sunday. Subsequent episodes air in the same timeslot on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Prior to Saturday's series finale, Spike TV will re-air the other four episodes.

The UFC this week announced three official bouts for UFC 100, which is becoming the can't-miss event of 2009. UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar takes on UFC interim heavyweight title holder Frank Mir (in a heavyweight title unification bout) and UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre meets top contender Thiago Alves. Additionally, "The Ultimate Fighter 9" coaches Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson are also slated to fight at the event, and as revealed on this past Wednesday's episode "The Ultimate Fighter 9", Stephan Bonnar will take on Mark Coleman.

A superfight between UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar (3-1) and UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir (12-3) will headline UFC 100; perhaps the most anticipated UFC event in the history of the storied MMA organization.

Headlining an event of this magnitude would appear to be quite an honor, but to listen to Lesnar tell it, he'd rather be watching from the front row.

"I'm a little disappointed that it got pushed back," Lesnar said in a recent appearance on HDNet's "Inside MMA". "In my mind, is Frank really hurt, or is he just scared?"

Mir was forced to undergo knee surgery due to an injury sustained in practice, which pushed the highly anticipated unification tilt from UFC 98 to UFC 100.

"(Frank Mir) won a make-believe belt from (Antonio Rodrigo) Nogueira," said Lesnar. "He is a former champion. But there's no ifs, ands or buts about it, I'm the current champion."

Mir was able to defeat Lesnar in their first fight, after sustaining serious damage via viscous ground-and-pound, before catching the former WWE superstar in a kneebar and forcing him to tap. Lesnar believes he rushed the fight and got caught making a rookie mistake.

"The biggest thing was that you've got 15 minutes," Lesnar said. "As soon as I entered the Octagon, there were a few other key factors that played into why I rushed the fight. But those would be just plain old excuses. I lost the fight fair and square. I had him up against the fence, and believe I was winning the fight. But, I made a rookie mistake and he capitalized on it. I'm looking forward to this upcoming fight with Frank."

As for a prediction, the ever confident Brock Lesnar had this to say:

"I don't think it's going to change much in the second (fight), (but) with a different outcome for sure."

"How do I feel about them trying to counter-program UFC 100?," said UFC President Dana White. "I love it. I fucking love it. I love it. I don't like these guys and I want to see them spend more of their t-shirt money. What they should be worrying about is — they've already seen first hand that nobody gives a shit about Affliction MMA — what they need to starting worrying about is nobody wants to wear their goofy fucking clothes anymore either. The fad is over and they better start saving as much of that t-shirt money as they can."

FiveOuncesOfPain.com recently got in contact with Dana White via text message Sunday afternoon to get his comments about recent reports claiming that Affliction is looking to counter-program UFC 100, which will be one of the most historic cards in UFC history. White responded by voicemail and he was clearly unimpressed with Affliction's plans. Affliction has yet to formally announce the date of its third show but if Affliction does indeed have their third show opposite UFC 100 then they will be facing some very stiff competition as UFC 100 features UFC Welterweight Championship match between reigning champion Georges St Pierre and Thiago Alves and a heavyweight title unification fight between UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir and UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar.

A planned rematch between UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir (picture) for UFC 98 on May 23 that would have unified both title has been canceled.

The UFC was recently informed by Mir's camp that he was forced to withdraw due to his injury. Mir suffered a knee injury and has already undergone surgery. The surgery will sideline the former strip club bouncer for the next four to six weeks.

There is no rumor as to whether Lesnar will remain on the card against a new opponent or if he will be taken off the card entirely.

The UFC had just officially announced Lesnar vs. Mir II by UFC.com earlier this week. The much-anticipated rematch had been anticipated to draw a large buyrate on PPV.

The first meeting at between Lesnar and Mir took place at UFC 81 in February of 2008 and ended at 1:30 of Round 1 after Lesnar was caught in a kneebar by Mir. Competing in just his second professional bout, the former WWE superstar was forced to tap despite the fact that he had knocked Mir down and was reigning down punches on him just prior to getting trapped in the submission hold.

Lesnar and Mir had been slated to fight each again other after both secured wins in the first round of a heavyweight title unification tournament. However, a Lesnar vs. Mir rematch in the finals of the tournament had been considered an improbability going in.

But the odds of a second fight between the two changed greatly after Lesnar won the heavyweight title from defending champion Randy Couture this past November at UFC 91. Couture, fighting for the first time after a 15 month layoff was TKO'd by the former WWE Champion at 3:07 of Round 2.

The rematch between Lesnar and Mir became a reality following Mir's upset victory over defending interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira at UFC 92 this past December. Displaying improved stand-up, Mir was able to TKO the former PRIDE FC Heavyweight Champion at 1:54 of Round 2.

Meanwhile, several reports have been published recently attributing quotes to UFC President Dana White claiming that a planned UFC 98 main event between Lesnar and Mir was still on.

In a report by Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, a quote is attributed to White in which the UFC President denied any knowledge of a Mir injury.

"UFC President Dana White said after the weigh-in for UFC 96 at the Nationwide Arena that he knew nothing of an injury by Mir," wrote Iole, who later reported in his story that sources close to Mir had confirmed that the interim UFC Heavyweight Champion underwent knee surgery last week.

During a bodybuilding webcast conducted at a fitness expo in the Columbus area held in conjunction with this weekend's "Arnold Classic", Mir responded to a question about the date of the fight at the 1:26 mark by saying, "Hopefully the summertime. It was May 23 but I needed to get a scope done to my knee so I got it done immediately last week. It would be rushing it to try and fight that soon because I can't really train for four to six weeks as far as sparring and wrestling and the real forms of training. Obviously I can hit the treadmill but that's usually not a good idea to be getting in shape for a fight on a treadmill."

While the UFC has yet to make a public announcement regarding the cancellation of Lesnar vs. Mir II at UFC 98, it is already exploring options for a replacement main event bout. One scenario believed to be under consideration is moving Rashad Evans' first defense of his UFC light heavyweight title that had been planned for UFC 100 on July 12.

After competing in the three legendary light heavyweight fights, former UFC champions Randy "The Natural" Couture and Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell (picture) could now meet during a heavyweight encounter at a June 13, 2009 event in Cologne, Germany.

The report comes from the UK based The Sun, which cites UFC officials as saying Liddell has been offered the heavyweight main event.

The Natural recently lost his heavyweight title to Brock Lesnar at UFC 91. Liddell, meanwhile, has dropped three of his four past fights at light heavyweight, but he's made no public statement regarding a potential move up to heavyweight division.

A source said that Couture is open to his fourth fight againsts Liddell, but we've been unable to confirm is the fight has been offered to Liddell.

With the event apparently in the works for Germany, it should come as little surprise that the UFC invited a small contingent of German press to UFC 91 to see Couture's main event with Lesnar. The 45-year-old Couture speaks German and has long been considered a likely headliner once the UFC does head to Germany, a market UFC officials have continually mentioned as a site for future expansion.

Couture and Liddell took part in a popular trilogy of fights that played out between 2003 and 2006. Couture scored a TKO in Round 3 at UFC 43 to win the first match-up for the interim heavyweight title (the former champion Tito Ortiz had been stripped of the title), but the 38-year-old Liddell won back the belt and made a successful title defense over Couture with two KO wins at UFC 52 and UFC 57.

With Liddell potentially tied up with the Germany event, he is apparently no longer being considered as an opponent for Anderson Silva at UFC 95 in London, England.

The Sun reported the possibility of the match, and though not opposed to the fight, Silva's manager, Ed Soares, last week told that UFC had not officially approached them about it.

The newspaper now reports that Silva, who is the current UFC Middleweight Champion, could instead meet one of the losers from UFC 92's two marquee 205-pound fights: UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin vs Rashad Evans or Wanderlei Silva vs Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.

The fight would take place at 205 pounds as a non-title affair.

The Vice President of M-1 Jerry Millen is welcoming the UFC to co-promote a battle of champions between WAMMA Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko and newly-crowned UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar (picture).

"Couture and WAMMA Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko had publicly acknowledged a desire to fight each other multiple times over the course of the past year," Millen said in a statement released Tuesday. "While M-1 and Fedor remain interested in a match against Couture, we would also like to publicly state for the record that we would welcome a superfight between Fedor and Lesnar that would be held as a co-promoted event between the UFC, M-1, and Affliction Entertainment."

Millen believes that Fedor should remain the undisputed champion, and that the UFC is only calling Fedor "overrated" simply because UFC has not acquired the final PRIDE FC Champion to its roster.

The UFC currently has two heavyweight champions, Brock Lesnar and interim champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, whom Fedor has already defeated twice. With the Couture fight devalued, Millen wants especially the remaining superfight with Lesnar.

"While Brock Lesnar is an accomplished athlete and a talented fighter, we do not consider him to be the number one heavyweight in the world," Millen continued. "Until someone beats him, we strongly believe that Fedor should continue to be recognized as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. In a match between Fedor and Lesnar, we do not feel that at this stage Lesnar would be able to make it out of the first round."

We're glad to be back to give you news and reports of MMA events around the world. Here are the results for UFC 91 which took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on last Saturday, November 15, 2008:
  • Brock Lesnar def. Randy "The Natural" Couture by TKO (strikes) at 3:07 of Round 2
  • Kenny "Ken Flo" Florian def. Joe "Daddy" Stevenson by submission (rear naked choke) at 4:03 of Round 1
  • Gabriel "Napao" Gonzaga def. "Heavy" Josh Hendricks by TKO (strikes) at 1:01 of Round 1
  • Demian Maia def. Nate "Rock" Quarry by submission (rear naked choke) at 2:13 of Round 1
  • Dustin Hazelett def. Tamdan "The Barn Cat" McCrory by submission (armbar) at 3:59 of Round 1
  • Aaron Riley def. Jorge Gurgel by unanimous decision
  • Jeremy Stephens def. Rafael dos Anjos by TKO (strikes) at 0:39 of Round 3
  • Mark Bocek def. Alvin "Kid" Robinson by submission (rear naked choke) at 3:16 of Round 3
  • Matt "The Immortal" Brown def. Ryan "The Tank Engine" Thomas by submission (armbar) at 0:57 of Round 2

There will not be a loser in UFC 91 main event -- at least financially -- when Brock Lesnar and Randy "The Natural" Couture are finished battling for the UFC Heavyweight Title Saturday night at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to the LA Times, the Nevada State Athletic Commission revealed Friday that both Couture and Lesnar will each earn a base pay of $250,000. If Lesnar wins, he will pocket an extra $200,000, and if Couture wins, he'll make an additional $250,000.

Both men could earn even more considering that the salaries reported to the Nevada State Athletic Commission does not include sponsorships and possible additional bonuses, including a rumored cut of the pay-per-view revenue.

November is never a great month for sports. The World Series is already over, the NBA and NHL's interminable regular seasons are just starting, and the NFL ruins the Thanksgiving by subjecting football fans to the Detroit Lions.

But on Saturday night, the heavyweight title will be on the line in the Ultimate Fighting Championship -- perhaps the biggest fight ever in the burgeoning sport of mixed martial arts.

Some sports fans have never heard of MMA, while others are under the impression that its fights are barbaric spectacles. The reality is that the UFC has intricate rules and boasts world class athletes. The sport attracts Olympic wrestlers and black belts, not street fighters and bar brawlers.

But Saturday night's fight will have be a spectacle, and deservedly so. The sport's greatest living legend, the 45-year-old Randy Couture, takes on the enormous Brock Lesnar, a former NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion who made a career in professional wrestling before returning to legitimate sport and giving MMA a try.

John McCarthy, who has worked as a referee in the sport since the second UFC event in 1994, calls the fight "The classic matchup -- probably the most physically impressive man in mixed martial arts (Lesnar) going against the most mentally impressive man (Couture)."

Dana White, the irascible president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, likes to say that his sport's biggest fights will some day be bigger than the Super Bowl in this country and the World Cup in the rest of the world. Like all great fight promoters, White is prone to hyperbole, but as the sport of mixed martial arts marches toward mainstream acceptance, the Couture-Lesnar fight could be its turning point. The fight will be purchased on pay-per-view by close to 1 million fans, and it is receiving a level of coverage from mainstream news sources that is unprecedented for the sport.

Although Couture is an intelligent, articulate man who is beloved by fans and doing something extraordinary by continuing to compete into his 40s, a victory by Lesnar would probably do more for the sport's long-term prospects. Fans are naturally drawn to the 31-year-old Lesnar, a strikingly impressive athlete with a gift for self-promotion.

Look for Couture to win because of his superior experience and knowledge -- Couture's background is in amateur wrestling, but he has also become a student of Eastern martial arts and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. But if Lesnar beats Couture in dominant fashion, it could be a star-making performance similar to Mike Tyson's 1988 knockouts of Larry Holmes and Michael Spinks.

Two decades after the pinnacle of Tyson's career, big fights have virtually disappeared from water-cooler conversations in America. But if there's a fight that can change that, it's Couture vs. Lesnar.

According to the Associated Press, Minnesota assistant wrestling coach Marty Morgan is leaving the program in order to focus full time and exclusively on his former collegiate champion Brock Lesnar's fledgling MMA career.

Brock Lesnar (picture) is on the rise in the UFC heavyweight ranks. He will fight against Randy Couture for the promotions heavyweight championship in November. He also was once an NCAA heavyweight champion at the college.

Morgan spent 16 years coaching at Minnesota after wrestling for the college himself. He says he will take the next year to concentrate on helping Lesnar train in the MMA field before reevaluating his plans then.

Lesnar won his last UFC match at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota last month.

Fiveouncesofpain.com's Sam Caplan breaks down the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight rankings in an article at CBS Sports, and when you really take a look at the UFC heavyweight division, Brock Lesnar really isn't that far away from a shot at the UFC heavyweight title.

UFC heavyweight rangkings list:
1. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
2. Fabricio Werdum
3. Gabriel Gonzaga
4. Frank Mir
5. Brock Lesnar
6. Heath Herring
7. Cheick Kongo
8. Cain Velasquez
9. Shane Carwin
10.Antoni Hardonk

In terms of the UFC by itself, these rankings are pretty much as close to official as you can get. With two or possibly even one win over Werdum or Gonzaga, Lesnar could basically become the number one contender to the heavyweight crown.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will defend his title against Frank Mir in December following the eighth season of the Ultimate Fight in which they are coaches on and if Lesnar does fight and win his next fight or two he could be on the line for a title shot in early 2009.

Heath "The Texas Crazy Horse" Herring was convincingly defeated by Brock Lesnar at UFC 87 on August 9 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota by unanimous decision. Unhappy with his performance and the outcome, Herring looks to the future and would eventually like a rematch with the former Division I collegiate wrestling champion and three times World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Champion.

Herring had high expectations heading into the octagon against Lesnar, but was caught by a right hand in the opening moments of the bout that sent him and his expectations crashing to the canvas.

"I think that shot pretty much changed the whole dynamic of the fight," said Herring. "I sure would like to know what would have happened if it hadn't landed."

"Once that right hand landed it was like I was fighting half blind, or pretty much blind at that point. It was all pretty much downhill from there," explained the 30-year-old heavyweight. "I just tried to come back and mount some type of offense. Unfortunately, I was never able to mount anything that significant.. After getting rocked with a shot like that, and not being able to see, you're more in survival mode."

"It doesn't sit very well with me. I'll be honest. I mean, you go out there and right at the beginning of the fight get caught with probably the biggest shot ever and you're starting off right away in a negative position."

Lesnar's post-fight antics and conduct in the final seconds of the match have received as much attention as the right hand that nearly finished the fight in round one. When asked his thoughts on Lesnar's actions, Herring responded, "That's kind of what everybody expected. Isn't it? I mean, that's where he comes from. He's got the pro wrestling background. That's kind of what they do."

"If the fans don't like it, the fans need to make their opinions heard on it, but I expected as much," added Herring. "If that's how he's going to behave, that's how he's going to behave. I'd still like another shot at it, but we'll see how that goes later."

During the post-fight press conference, Lesnar commented that there was bad blood between the two camps leading up to the event that resulted in the taunting after the win. "That was for Heath's camp because on the way out to the Octagon there was some things said before the fight," stated Lesnar.

Herring disputes the bad blood claims. "I don't know really where all of that is coming from. I just recently heard any of that to be honest with you," said the UFC and PRIDE veteran.

Following the fight, rumors swirled about alleged injuries suffered in the loss. Herring assured the damage is minimal and expects a quick recovery.

"Everything should be all right," said the Texas native. "They thought I had a small orbital problem. But I think that's going to heal up and everything should be okay."

"The only thing I had was that left eye. That was it. I didn't have any bruises, aches or pains otherwise, but that left eye was enough to sway the battle in his favor."

Questioned where he goes from here, Herring answered, "You just try to move forward. I mean everybody can sit here and put their two-bits in, or their two-cents in about this and that. Right now, I've just got to move forward with this. I'm not happy with the loss. I'm not happy with the fight at all. I've just got to go back to the drawing board and start over."

When former Division I collegiate wrestling heavyweight champion and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar Brock Lesnar made the decision to compete in MMA, he set lofty goals. After his debut win over Kim Min-soo in K-1, Lesnar set his sights on the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

"I'm a fighter, and I believe that if somebody should be holding a belt in the UFC, it's Brock Lesnar," that's what the 31-year-old pro wrestler told in August 2007.

Lesnar debuted in the UFC against former heavyweight titleholder Frank Mir at UFC 81 and lost via kneebar in a fight he was dominating. "I've been in front of a lot of crowds, but the one thing I hadn't been in was the Octagon and fighting a former champion," commented Lesnar. "I put a lot of pressure on myself that first fight. I had more pressure on my first fight I think than I did this fight."

UFC President Dana White had reservations about bringing Lesnar into the UFC. "When Brock said he wanted to fight in the UFC, I told him, 'This isn't the place to learn how to fight. You should fight in smaller shows,'" White told the media during the UFC 87 post-fight press conference. "He wanted to come here and test himself against the best."

After Lesnar's performance against Heath Herring at the Target Center in Minneapolis, White admitted something he rarely admits. "I'll be honest, I didn't think he could come in here with no fights and compete at this level. He proved me wrong. He looked unbelievable... I'm very impressed and I think everyone else is too."

Following his first win in the UFC, Lesnar told the media, "I got really excited after I won. And I have every right to be. I came off a loss. And it was tough. I don't like to lose. And it feels good."

Lesnar dropped Herring early in the first round with a right hand. Questioned if he's been working on his striking, he answered, "I've been working on everything, not just the right hand. It's one of those things where we broke Heath Herring down. And the advantage we had in our camp was Heath didn't have any footage on me and we had everything on him. He was expecting me to shoot on him and I faked a shot, faked a jab, and came with the right hand and put it where I needed to put it."

Following his impressive victory some criticized Lesnar for his post-fight antics, comparing it to his pro wrestling days in the WWE. "That was just me. I was excited," stated the heavyweight fighter. "That was for Heath's camp because on the way out to the Octagon there was some things said before the fight. And I had the last laugh and the last words to say. That's all that matters to me.

"I may have went a little overboard," he added. "But I was having fun. You know? I like where I'm at and if I offended anybody, I'm sorry. Ah… not really."

With only three MMA fights, Lesnar hasn't shed that stigma of being a former professional wrestler despite the fact that several mixed martial artists also participate in pro wrestling matches in Japan.

"First and foremost, I'm an amateur wrestler," stated Lesnar. "I was in the entertainment business for four and a half years. I didn't forget who I was nor will I ever forget. I started wrestling when I was five years old. Nobody gave me anything in my entire life. I've had to fight for every damn thing that I've got and I'm proud of it. I'm proud to be here."

Lesnar admitted that two years ago he was at a crossroads in his career and didn't know what direction he'd end up going. But the former three times WWE Champion has found a place in the UFC. "I feel at home here. People bounce around from job to job their whole lives and never find a home. I feel like this is where I belong."

White appears to agree, "(Heath Herring's) fought the best fighters in the world. He got dominated… dominated by Brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar is a mixed martial artist, no doubt about it."

Do you agree with him?

Fedor Emelianenko greeted his fans last Tuesday at the new Affliction store in Los Angeles, California. The World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts (WAMMA) World Heavyweight Champion said that he's interested in fighting Randy Couture to keep competing in the highest level and to reward fans who have supported this sport. He also said that he has never said anything to insult the UFC President Dana White. "It's White's problems and he can go on living with whatever issues he has," said Fedor.

Furthermore, he said he likes Brock Lesnar very much. Although Fedor hasn't seen much of Lesnar's fights, he sees that Lesnar is physically very strong and is someone with a bright future and a lot potential in MMA career. Lesnar is a fight Fedor would be interested in and Lesnar would definitely be a worthy opponent for him.

Fedor also said that he doesn't think about anything before a fight. He usually frees himself of any emotion and thoughts that would complicate things. He paces back and forth to keep the blood flowing and not to get stagnant.

After almost signing with UFC earlier this year, it now appears that capoeira and jiu-jitsu expert Andre Gusmao will finally make his debut for the promotion in August at UFC 87.

Currently undefeated in his professional career, Gusmao was prematurely speculated to face David Heath at UFC 81 in February, but it was then discovered that he was still under obligation to the International Fight League (IFL).

During his time with the IFL, Gusmao served as an alternate for Renzo Gracie's Pitbulls, racking up four wins in the promotion.

Gusmao was supposedly signed and ready to fight Heath when his previous contractual obligations were revealed, but now it appears he has fulfilled his time with the IFL and now moves on to the UFC.

At this time no opponent has been named for Gusmao in his debut, but more fights for the Minnesota card are expected soon.

UFC 87 bouts (officially announced):
- Georges St. Pierre vs Jon Fitch
- Kenny Florian vs Roger Huerta
- Brock Lesnar vs Heath Herring

UFC 87 bouts (unannounced yet):
